I Had A Dream That My Childhood Home Was Burning Down

Two Nights ago I had one of the most intense and vivid dreams I’ve ever had in my life. It started off with me walking into my front yard where people who I grew up with were partying, but oddly enough I didn’t feel like I was hosting the party. I started walking to my backyard, and as I looked to my left, a house was burning down, my house. People inside then started to catch on fire, and suddenly my woods was on fire. The fire kept encircling me until I woke up in a panic. This was the first time I’ve had a dream like this, so naturally I thought what the fuck does this mean.

I found this interpretation pretty interesting “If you see something that’s burning in a dream, it can hold several interpretations. These interpretations depend upon how the fire is set and how it affects you in the dream. The most common dream one might see is their house burning. Usually the house represents “you.” Therefore, a burning house indicates an impending personal transformation.” I definitely feel that I’m going through a personal transformation. I’m coming the harsh realization that my college days are over, and it’s time to move on to the next phase of my life. Like Nick told Gatsby “You can’t repeat the past.” It’s time to start focusing on my career, and the next chapter of my life. I’ve been living at home the last year and it’s just not the same. As I’ve changed and grown as person, people who I grew up with have done the same. It’s odd but I just don’t belong here anymore. I felt that I truly found myself in my last year of college, but when I moved home I took a step back in personal growth. I don’t have the same connections and bonds to people like I once did, which is sad but it’s a part of life. The same goes to people I went to college with. The only constant in life is change. I see people moving to new cities, starting new jobs, and experiencing the new adventures of their lives. There’s nothing new to me in Boston at this point. I remember the first two years at Suffolk where the city felt like a playground. I was so excited to go out, dance, meet new people, go to new places, but sooner than later those feelings passed.

To see something burning in your dream indicates that you are experiencing some intense emotions and/or passionate sexual feelings. There is some situation or issue that you can no longer avoid and ignore. Alternatively, it may suggest that you need to take time off for yourself and relax. Perhaps you are you feeling “burned out” or “burned up” This is another interesting interpretation. It is cuffing season, and maybe my subconscious is telling me to find a girlfriend. I also do feel pretty burned out. Adjusting to adulthood is just tough. From childhood to college we went to school for 9 months, had summer break for 3 months, and the cycle repeated. The whole structure completely changes after college and all you have is work and eventually a vacation. Plus homework doesn’t end. I’m taking classes to be eligible for the CPA exam, but at the same time I’m weighing my options about law school, so I need to study for the LSATs. I also haven’t given up on my dreams yet, so I need some time to pursue my passions. Then I also gotta hold on to the threads of my diminishing circle of friends. Also your hangovers get worse, and you gotta stay in shape so you don’t end up looking 40 at the age of 25 and end up alone for the rest of your life. All this shit just adds up, and it’s exhausting. So yea maybe I should take some time to relax.
